We can’t wait to meet you…
Thanks for visiting the Hank’s Mercantile site. We are excited to be building a brand new collective for crafters and artisans here in El Dorado County.
The space will be split between a maker’s space and gallery/arts and crafts space. There will be refrigerated cases for food and produce sales. The merchandise will be displayed on antique furniture that will be for sale and we will accept consignment items that fit the look of the store. The store will be an eclectic mix of antique tables and hutches with modern chairs and other modern accents. The outside property will be decorated with garden art for sale, landscaped, with seating and a picnic table, and a stream running through the back yard of the old plumbing store. I was optimistic about thinking it would be open in 2019, but now that it is a new year the county, planning, draftspeople, and engineers said they would not be as busy, hopefully, this final phase will not take as long. We are hoping that it will be open in the spring. We would like our store to be a meeting place so people can see all that El Dorado county offers, so we want to partner with local wineries and businesses offering services, especially in this SO-Fi area (South of Fifty). Finally, we want to respect the history of the area, so we have talked with local historians so we will be able to tell the stories of how the area was created. We would like Hank’s Mercantile to be a place that is enjoyed by locals and people driving through, offering good products with competitive prices. We will continue to post updates about our progress here on the website but we invite you to join our mailing list to be notified when we have news specific to your interests.
